Doom 3: GX2 Mod Journal
The GX2 Mod has a Journal
Yea here it is. I've been making a lot of progress on the mod recently. Let me assure you its doing very well. Its close to what I wanted it to be from the start.
So I decided to make this journal here, to provide you the latest news of the mod.
Here are some changes I've added to the GX2 Mod:
- Complete new menu design
- New improved vocal sounds
- New monster sounds
The new main menu includes a whole bunch of new settings.
-You will now be able to select each level individually, and a nice preview screenshot of the level will be show in the background.
Its also possible to add a custom map directly from the menu. So you will no longer have to to use the console.
(The GX2 Mod will feature some high quality custom single and multiplayer maps.)
- The Multiplayer tab shows a neat preview of your soldier. There's also a tab for custom skins and models.
- The Options tab has the most improvements:
The system options now let you select the screen ratio. (4:3, 16:9, 16:10)
Theres also a option for Antisphoric Filtering. Though the ID Tech 4 engine only supports up to x16 AF, for x16, you will have to force it via your GPU control pannel.
Since the GX2 Mod is known to have no mercy when it comes to your hardware, the Doom 3 time demo has been added as a tab to the System Options. Just click it and it will run the benchmark, which will provide your average frame rate.
- The Advanced System Options now give you a lot more settings to play around with. Such as texture quality, particle - and post processing effects, among many others. This makes the GX2 mod playable on mainstream systems as well, by lowering some of these effects.
- The Game Options also offer some new features. You can now adjust the sensitivity of your X and Y axis on the mouse individually.
The FPS counter can be turned on and off in the Options too.
A very nice new feature that has been added is a hit percentage counter. It will show you how good (or bad) your aim is, by giving you a percentage of all shots you fired. I think this adds a long term motivation to the game.

(Future plans are to display stats at the end of each level, to show how many monsters and allies have been killed and the aim percentage of course, with the possibility to save these stats)
Ok that's it for now, more to come :P
Cheers!
